Change of scenery creates world of difference for Stirling residents
Michael and Christine Mesiti have been Stirling residents their entire life - until recently when a passion for mission work and helping others saw a move to Africa for the Tuart Hill couple to assist vulnerable children.

In Zambia where they now reside, Mr and Mrs Mesiti created House of Hope Africa; a Christian charity that is providing education, emergency relief and medical assistance to families in need.

Recently I met with the pair who informed me of their passion for missionary work and how it inspired them to launch the organisation which is supporting a small impoverished community in Mtendere, Lusaka.

Michael and Christine Mesiti have built a compound where over 120 children, 30 adults and many vulnerable families meet week to week for a number of programs and community outreach.

On a daily basis the duo teaches children how to read and write, and run a feeding program which sees more than 60 children receive clean water and a healthy cooked meal each week.
Parents in the compound are also taught basic cooking and food preparation skills, and receive financial assistance and business loans to support everyday needs. Mothers of children who attend the school also assist in preparing meals for the school children which Mrs Mesiti describes is a way of them giving back to their community.
Michael and Christine Mesiti have created a remarkable difference to the lives of so many by building a safe environment for children and adults to learn and engage with one another.
At Christmas time when we come together with our families it is important to remember those less fortunate than ourselves and be thankful for what we have.

I would like to thank both Michael and Christine Mesiti for sharing their story with me and I encourage all residents to please view their website at for more information or to donate to their programs.
