Speaking at Stirling Skills Training Centre in Mirrabooka this morning, Mr Keenan said Jobactive clients aged 15-24 years will benefit.
“Feedback from local businesses tells me that young people often do not have a proper understanding of what is expected in the workplace,” Mr Keenan said.
“That is why today I am pleased to announce that seven local organisations in Stirling will deliver Employability Skills Training to help our youth in the community become better prepared for employment.
“Young people will have the opportunity to participate in training courses that will teach them everything from basic work skills, to writing resumes, attending interviews and practical industry awareness experiences.”
Employability Skills Training is part of the ‘Prepare’ element of the Federal Government’s Youth Jobs PaTH program – with a commitment of $188.3 million expected to benefit more than 200,000 young people across Australia.
“This is a fantastic initiative to help our young people get the skills they need to take up a job in the local community and I encourage all eligible Stirling youth to participate.”
Other elements of the Youth Jobs PaTH program include a voluntary internship of four to 12 weeks to help young people gain the skills and work experience they need to get and keep a job, and a Youth Bonus wage subsidy of up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) for employers.
