On Monday April 25 Australians will pause to remember and commemorate the brave soldiers who fought and died at Gallipoli in 1915.
As we continue the Anzac Centenary period, 2016 sees the focus of our commemorations shift to the Western Front and the anniversaries of significant battles on the Somme in France.
The battles and victories of this era helped define the War, and define early Australia. The soldiers of the Australian army earned a reputation, which continues to this day, as a professional and formidable force that fights hard, takes on the most significant challenges and succeeds under difficult circumstances.
This week residents will receive my Anzac Day brochure in their letterboxes outlining all services held in our community to commemorate and remember those who have served, and who continue to serve for the defence of our great nation.
I encourage residents to view the brochure and try to attend one of the many services offered by our local RSL clubs.
